At 11:00am on February 20th at Clear Lake Public Library, Krystal Gladden, the Museum Educator for the African American Museum of Iowa, will present on the Underground Railroad in Iowa. Minimal documentation makes it difficult to show how many escaped in total, but only a couple hundred would have traveled through Iowa. Gladden will share the known information about the individuals who provided shelter, transport & material support for the travelers on the journey to freedom. After the presentation, join the library’s Book Chat discussion of Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad from 12:00 to 1:00pm.
