Gridshock
October 18, 2022 @ 6:30 am - 8:00 pm
The North Iowa Coalition Against Human Trafficking (NICAHT) is presenting the documentary Gridshock, a film about sex trafficking in Iowa, at the Clear Lake Public Library
on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
Vanessa McNeal, a filmmaker and survivor of sexual violence explores the often overlooked reality of why the sex trafficking industry thrives. On a quest to learn more, Vanessa discovers who the johns/buyers are and why there is a culture of impunity that hides and protects them. In this riveting and truly disturbing documentary what you think you know about sex trafficking will be challenged. What is hidden in rural Iowa will come to light. The film features survivors of sex trafficking, local and federal law enforcement, advocates, politicians, and a recovering sex addict.
This film is NOT appropriate for children, however parents may, at their discretion, view it with their older teens. There will be a Q&A time after the movie and resource materials will be available. The mission of NICAHT is to provide no-cost prevention education, professional training and victim-centered resources to create stronger, safer communities in our 11 north Iowa counties.
