StoryWalk® in the Gardens
June 1 - July 31
The Library has teamed up with Central Gardens again to implement a temporary StoryWalk® within Central Gardens of North Iowa. The StoryWalk® begins inside the main gate, then follows the path through the gardens, ending near the Kid’s Bee Happy Garden.
Two different books will be featured this summer, one throughout the month of June and another through the month of July. Pages of the picture book are displayed on posts along the paths so visitors can read while they walk. Each page features a literacy building activity as well, whether it’s defining a vocabulary word, asking a question, or relating to the world right around you. The StoryWalk® is a wonderful way for readers of all ages to combine literacy skills and healthy exercise while enjoying the beautiful landscape at Central Gardens of North Iowa. This free activity is accessible during normal garden hours. Please follow all garden rules as posted by Central Gardens of North Iowa and practice social distancing from other groups that may be utilizing the gardens. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.
