Twixmas- the unofficial term for the relaxed period between Christmas and New Year.
Time to shift from high gear to glorious neutral. The possibilities are endless and Clear Lake holds them all.
Get creative with holiday leftovers. Then walk them off in one of our beautiful parks or wild places. Shop for bargains. Meet friends and family for drinks and dinner. Sink into the sofa and watch a movie or crack that book that’s been staring at you. Spend time with the family without having to have that conversation. Again. The movies are perfect for just that.
This photo from the Clear Lake Public Library History Collection shows Santa in line waiting for the Uptown Electric Theater to open. It operated from circa 1911-1930’s where present day Laird Law firm is.
History buffs and seasoned residents will also remember Park Theater, directly south of City Park. Today the condos occupy that space. That theater was in business from the late 1920’s to the 1950’s.
Our historic and yet modern Lake Theater, built in 1890 as an Opera House, continues to show us films today. After a fire in 1935, the building was reopened as a moving picture theater in 1936. Numerous updates over the years allow us to see the recent blockbusters surrounded by 1890 charm.
So, take some time this “Feral Week” to kick back and do the things you enjoy.
Be like Santa
